The Stranger

there was a stranger yellin'
and there was no tellin'
how the place was gonna look by nine
I like peaceful drinkin'
quiet thinkin'
and he talked too much to be a friend of mine

well that stranger was certain
he'd had more hurtin'
than any other man’s known in this world
but I don't like whiners
I likes my Shiners
and he weren't the only one to've lost a girl

I made polite-like
asked real nice-like
all it did was get him mad
he called me chicken
he took a lickin'
that old boy got messed up pretty bad

there was a stranger yellin'
and there was no tellin'
how torn apart the bar was going to be
in the mornin' when I woke up
my pride broke up
I found out the stranger was me
I found out the stranger was me
